Siracusa is located in the SE corner of the Italian island of Sicily, next to the Ionian Sea. Porto Empedocle is a little port in Italy on the Strait of Sicily, founded in the eighteenth century. It is in the Caos district, and is well known to Italians because the home - which now contains a small museum - of the famous writer Luigi Pirandello, is located there. The town is also very well known as the setting of the Inspector Montalbano books, written by Andrea Camilleri, who when aged 80 years still had a home here where he lived for part of the year. Algiers is the capital and largest city of Algeria, situated on the west side of a bay of the Mediterranean Sea. Cartagena is a large beach resort city on the northern coast of Colombia in the Caribbean Coast Region. While in recent years many new skyscrapers have been constructed, Cartagena's colonial walled city with its amazing architecture, such as The Vaults that were originally built as dungeons and from the top of which the Caribbean Sea is visible.
